THE ONES WHO STAND THE WATCH** This song is personal to me because I know what it means to put on a uniform and serve. Years have passed since I wore mine, but I’ve never forgotten what that uniform represented—or the people I served beside. And I know I’m not alone. The veterans who make up Blue Wave Revival may have served in different branches and at different times, but there’s an understanding between us that doesn’t disappear when the uniform comes off.
When I wrote **“The Ones Who Stand the Watch,”** I was thinking about the men and women serving right now. Somewhere tonight, a young service member is standing watch, walking a post, flying a mission, crossing an ocean, or simply doing the job they took an oath to do. And somewhere back home, a husband, wife, parent, child, or loved one is waiting for them.
I was also thinking about those of us who stood that watch years ago. We may be older now. The uniform may be hanging in a closet or packed away in a box. But we remember. This isn’t a song about war. **It’s about the people.** It’s about service, sacrifice, the families who wait at home, the people we served beside, and a bond that can last a lifetime.
So from me and the veterans of Blue Wave Revival to everyone standing the watch today—and everyone who stood it before: Thank you. I remember. We remember. And you’ll never stand alone.
