About Blue Wave Revival

Real Stories. Real Memories. Told Through Music.

My name is Rick Gaspa, and I'm the founder and songwriter behind Blue Wave Revival.

I've spent most of my life telling stories. I grew up in the public housing projects of Boston, joined the United States Army at seventeen, served two tours in Vietnam, and spent much of my working life behind a radio microphone.

Back in 1967, I was a young Army broadcaster in Da Nang, Vietnam, playing records and talking to American servicemen and women far from home. I never imagined that more than fifty years later, I'd be sitting in my own little studio in Las Vegas, creating music from the memories I've carried around for most of my life.

Funny how life works out.

Blue Wave Revival wasn't born out of a desire to become famous or make money. It started with something much simpler. I had stories I wanted to tell, memories I wanted to preserve, and feelings I sometimes found easier to put into words than to talk about.

Some of those memories are wonderful. Others still keep me awake at night. And some are just plain funny, especially when I think about getting older and how much life has changed.

That's what you'll find in our music. Stories about growing up, falling in love, serving our country, getting older, losing people we care about, and sometimes just laughing at ourselves.

Not everything is about the military or Vietnam. Life has given me plenty of other things to write about, too.

How We Create Our Music

I'm a storyteller and songwriter, not a professional singer or instrumentalist. Fortunately, today's technology has opened doors that weren't available to someone like me years ago.

I write the words, develop the stories, and guide the musical direction. Using AI-assisted music-production technology, including digitally created voices and instruments, I can turn those ideas into finished recordings.

It's a different way of making music, and I understand that it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

But the stories are personal. The memories are real. And the emotions behind the words come from a lifetime of living, loving, serving, and sometimes struggling.

The technology helps bring the music to life. The experiences behind it come from people.

Music With a Purpose

One part of Blue Wave Revival that's especially close to my heart is The War Followed Me Home Initiative.

Like many veterans, I know that some battles don't end when you take off the uniform. PTSD, depression, and the invisible wounds of military service can follow us home and remain with us for decades.

Through this Initiative, I'm trying to use music to reach other veterans, remind them they're not forgotten, and encourage those who are struggling to reach out for help.

Our message is simple:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO STAND WATCH ALONE.

But Blue Wave Revival isn't only about difficult memories. I want people to smile, laugh, remember their younger days, and maybe hear a story that reminds them of something in their own lives.

Why We Share Our Music for Free

All Blue Wave Revival music is free to listen to, download, and share.

We're not here to sell you something. We're here to share stories and hopefully make a connection.

At this point in my life, I've come to realize that the most valuable things we leave behind aren't necessarily the things we own. Sometimes they're the stories we tell, the memories we preserve, and the difference we make in someone else's life.

If one of our recordings makes you smile, brings back a wonderful memory, or helps you through a difficult day, then all the hours spent writing and creating it have been worthwhile.

So pull up a chair, put on your headphones, and stay awhile. There's a lifetime of stories here, and I'd be happy to share a few of them with you.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for being part of the Blue Wave Revival journey.

The music is free. The message is what matters.

Our Content

At Blue Wave Revival, everything begins with a story. Sometimes it's a memory from my years in the Army or behind a radio microphone. Other times, it's a moment from everyday life, a person I've never forgotten, or an experience that still makes me smile, laugh, or think about how quickly the years have passed.

I'm Rick Gaspa, founder and songwriter behind Blue Wave Revival. I believe some stories are too important to be forgotten, and music gives me a way to share them. Through original songwriting and modern music technology, I turn personal memories, real-life experiences, and heartfelt words into recordings that others can enjoy and connect with.

There's plenty to explore here. You'll find new music, the personal stories behind our songs, reflections on life and military service, behind-the-scenes glimpses of our creative process, upcoming projects, and updates from The War Followed Me Home Initiative. We'll also share stories from veterans, military families, and listeners who have memories and experiences of their own.

And while my military service has certainly shaped much of what I write, Blue Wave Revival isn't only about veterans or Vietnam. Life doesn't stop when the uniform comes off. There are stories about love, family, friendship, growing older, losing people we care about, laughing at ourselves, surviving difficult times, and finding a little hope when we need it most.

I've always believed that music doesn't have to change the world to make a difference. Sometimes bringing back a wonderful memory, putting a smile on someone's face, or helping another person feel understood is more than enough.

So stay awhile and look around. Listen to the music. Read the stories behind it. Explore The War Followed Me Home Initiative. And if something touches your heart, brings back a memory, or makes you smile, share it with someone else. You never know who might need to hear that particular story today.

There's a lifetime of memories here, and I'm glad you've stopped by to share a few of them with me.

Our Values

At Blue Wave Revival, we believe music can reach places ordinary words sometimes cannot. It can bring back a memory, offer comfort during a difficult time, make someone smile, or remind us of people and moments we thought we'd forgotten.

As a U.S. Army veteran, I've learned a few things about life along the way. Service, loyalty, honesty, compassion, and standing beside one another when times get tough aren't just words to me. They're values I've tried to live by, both in and out of uniform. And they're the same values that guide Blue Wave Revival today.

I believe in telling honest stories, even when they're difficult to share. I believe in honoring those serving today, those who served before us, the families who stood beside them, and the friends and loved ones we've lost along the way. I also believe we need to talk openly about the invisible battles so many veterans face, including PTSD, depression, loneliness, and memories that sometimes refuse to fade.

But I believe something else just as strongly. A veteran is much more than the uniform they once wore. We have families, friendships, dreams, regrets, funny stories, wonderful memories, and sometimes a few mistakes we'd rather forget. We fall in love, grow older, lose people we care about, find second chances, and keep searching for reasons to smile. Those stories deserve to be told, too.

Through Blue Wave Revival, I use personal storytelling, original songwriting, and modern music technology to bring these experiences to life. The voices and instruments may be digitally created, but the memories, emotions, and values behind the music are deeply human.

Through The War Followed Me Home Initiative, I'm especially committed to reminding veterans and their families that they haven't been forgotten. We may not be able to take away someone's pain with a song, but sometimes knowing another person understands what you're going through can make a difficult day a little easier.

And one of the things I value most is making sure everyone feels welcome here. You don't have to be a veteran, wear a uniform, or have experienced military life to connect with our music. If you've ever loved someone, lost someone, struggled through a difficult time, laughed at yourself, or found the courage to try again tomorrow, there's probably a story here for you.

Most of all, I believe our experiences deserve to be remembered, our stories deserve to be heard, and every person deserves kindness, dignity, and respect.

We may come from different generations, different backgrounds, and different walks of life, but there's something that connects us all: every story matters, every life has value, and no one should have to stand watch alone.

Why This Music Is Personal to Me

Long before Blue Wave Revival, before I started writing songs or sitting in my little recording studio in Las Vegas, I was a seventeen-year-old kid from the public housing projects of Boston who joined the United States Army.

I served two tours in Vietnam. I spent time behind a radio microphone in Da Nang, playing music for young Americans far from home. Back then, I never imagined that more than fifty years later, I'd still be carrying so many of those memories around with me.

But that's the thing about coming home from war. You can leave the country, take off the uniform, and get on with your life, but that doesn't necessarily mean everything you experienced stays behind.

There are faces I still see, names I still remember, and conversations that sometimes come back as clearly as if they happened yesterday. There are nights when the past feels much closer than fifty years ago. I've lived with PTSD and depression, and I know what it's like to lie awake wishing your mind would give you a little peace. I also know what it's like to wake up after one of those terrible nights and be grateful that somehow, you've made it to another morning.

That's a big part of why I write.

When I write about a veteran struggling through the night, remembering someone he served beside, dealing with depression, or trying to explain the war that followed him home, I'm not sitting here imagining what those feelings might be like. I've lived through some of them myself.

Sometimes writing brings back memories I'd rather leave alone. Other times, it helps me make a little sense of things I've carried for decades. And occasionally, it brings back something wonderful—a familiar voice, an old friendship, a funny moment, or a memory that makes me smile.

But I don't want anyone to think Blue Wave Revival is only about Vietnam, PTSD, or difficult memories. I've lived a whole life beyond the Army. I've loved, laughed, made mistakes, lost people I cared about, built a long career in broadcasting, watched the years slip by, and discovered that getting older can be both funny and frustrating.

Those experiences are just as much a part of my story.

Today, I turn those memories and experiences into music through Blue Wave Revival. I write the words, shape the stories, and use modern AI-assisted music technology to bring the vocals and instruments to life. I may not be the voice you hear singing, but the memories and emotions behind those words are mine.

And I'll tell you something else. I'm not doing this because I expect to become famous or make money. At this point in my life, I'd much rather leave behind something meaningful than spend my remaining years chasing applause.

I want to preserve the stories. Remember the people. Share a few laughs. And maybe help someone who's having a difficult time realize they're not the only one who's been there.

I don't believe music can cure PTSD or make depression disappear. I wish it could. But I do believe a song can reach someone at just the right moment. Sometimes hearing words that describe exactly what you've been feeling can make a lonely night a little less lonely.

That's also why I created The War Followed Me Home Initiative. I wanted to do something with these memories beyond simply writing about them. I wanted to reach other veterans, encourage conversations about mental health, and remind people that asking for help isn't something to be ashamed of.

So listen to the music. Read the stories behind the recordings. Laugh along with the funny ones, and maybe spend a little time with the more serious ones.

And if you're a veteran carrying memories or struggles that other people don't always understand, there's something I especially want you to know.

I've carried some of those memories too. I've had those difficult nights. I understand more than you might think.

Your service mattered. Your life matters. And you do not have to stand watch alone.

Home Studio in Las Vegas, NV

Where the Music Begins

A lot of what you hear from Blue Wave Revival begins right here in my home studio in Las Vegas. It's nothing fancy, certainly not some big Hollywood recording studio. It's just my own little corner of the world, surrounded by the equipment I've come to enjoy working with, where I can sit down with a thought, a memory, or something that's been on my mind and begin turning it into music.

Sometimes a song starts with a memory from my Army days or my years behind a radio microphone. Other times, it's a conversation, someone I haven't seen in fifty years, a difficult night, or simply looking back at life and wondering where all those years went. And believe me, there are plenty of stories still floating around in this old head of mine.

Some days the words come easily. Other times, I can spend hours working on just a few lines, trying to find the right way to say what I'm feeling. I've learned that there's a big difference between writing something that sounds good and writing something that actually says what you mean.

Once the story is written, that's when the fun really begins. Using modern AI-assisted music technology, I work on bringing those words to life with vocals, instruments, harmonies, and arrangements that fit the story I'm trying to tell. Sometimes I hear a piano in my head. Other times it's a guitar, strings, horns, or a powerful voice that can carry the emotion of the words. I experiment, listen, make changes, and sometimes start all over again until the recording feels right.

And I'll tell you something. Hearing words I've written become a finished song still amazes me. I spent much of my life in broadcasting, playing and introducing other people's music. Now, all these years later, I'm finally hearing my own stories come to life. That's something I never expected when I was that young Army broadcaster in Vietnam.

There have been plenty of late nights in this room. Some recordings have made me laugh out loud. Others have brought back wonderful memories of people and places I haven't thought about in years. And a few have been difficult to finish because the memories behind them are still very real.

But that's what makes this little studio so special to me. It's not about expensive equipment, being a professional musician, or trying to make a hit record. It's about having a place where I can take everything life has given me—the good, the bad, the funny, and the heartbreaking—and turn it into something worth sharing.

And if someone listening halfway across the country hears one of those stories and says, "You know, I've felt that way too," then I've accomplished exactly what I set out to do.

This is where memories become words, words become music, and stories I've carried for a lifetime finally find a voice.
