This Isn't Just Music. It's My Story. And Maybe Yours, Too

I'm Rick Gaspa, a Vietnam veteran, songwriter, and storyteller. I joined the U.S. Army at seventeen, served two tours in Vietnam, and came home carrying memories that have stayed with me for more than fifty years. Some are wonderful, some still make me laugh, and others are memories I wish I could leave behind.

If you're a veteran, you may understand what I mean. We can take off the uniform, put away our military photographs, and get on with our lives, but some experiences never really leave us. We remember the people we served beside, the friendships we made, the ones who never came home, and sometimes the battles that followed us long after our service ended.

That's why I started writing the stories behind Blue Wave Revival. When I write about PTSD, depression, loneliness, sacrifice, or a veteran trying to make it through another difficult night, I'm not simply imagining those feelings. I've lived through some of them myself. And I know there are veterans from every generation carrying stories of their own.

But our lives are about much more than military service. We're husbands, wives, partners, parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors. We've fallen in love, raised families, lost people we cared about, made mistakes, grown older, and found reasons to laugh even when life wasn't particularly funny. Those stories matter just as much.

Through Blue Wave Revival, I turn these memories and experiences into music, using original songwriting and modern music technology. My hope is that somewhere, another veteran will hear a few words and think, "Someone understands. I've been there too."

That's also why I created The War Followed Me Home Initiative. I want veterans struggling with PTSD, depression, and the invisible wounds of service to know they're remembered, their experiences matter, and reaching out for help is never something to be ashamed of.

This isn't just music to me. These are pieces of my life, the faces I still remember, the memories I've carried, and the stories I share for every veteran who may recognize a little of their own journey in mine.

So come on in, stay awhile, and listen to Blue Wave Revival. Whether you wore the uniform, love someone who did, or simply appreciate a story that comes from the heart, there's a place for you here.

Your service mattered. Your story matters. And you do not have to stand watch alone.

The Best Way to Experience Our Music 🎧

If you really want to enjoy Blue Wave Revival the way it's meant to be heard, I have one little suggestion. Grab a good pair of headphones, connect some quality external speakers, or turn on your home stereo. There's a lot happening inside these recordings that you might never notice through a phone or laptop speaker.

I'm Rick Gaspa, a Vietnam veteran, songwriter, and the person behind Blue Wave Revival. Every recording begins with a story, often drawn from my own life, my years in the Army, the people I've known, and the memories I've carried for more than fifty years.

When I write about military service, sacrifice, coming home, PTSD, depression, or remembering someone I served beside, those words come from experiences I know personally. And I know there are veterans from every generation who carry memories and feelings much like mine.

But there's much more to life than our years in uniform. That's why you'll also hear stories about love, family, friendship, growing older, losing someone special, laughing at ourselves, and finding hope when we need it most. Veterans have lived those stories too, and they're just as important.

Using modern music technology, I spend a lot of time shaping each recording, paying attention to the vocals, instruments, harmonies, and even those little quiet moments that help tell the story. Sometimes it's a gentle piano in the background. Other times, it's a guitar, a soaring vocal, or a few simple words that bring back a memory you haven't thought about in years.

So get comfortable, turn up the volume just a little, and give the music a good listen. Don't rush through it. Let the words and the music take you wherever they might lead.

And if you're a veteran, I hope somewhere along the way you'll hear something familiar. Maybe a memory, a feeling, or a story that reminds you someone else understands what you've been carrying.

You're not just listening to music. You're hearing real memories, real experiences, and stories from a veteran who has lived many of the words he writes.

If you've spent a little time listening to Blue Wave Revival, you've probably discovered that there's a lot more here than just music. Behind every song is a story, a memory, a face, or a moment in someone's life that deserves to be remembered.

And if something you've heard has touched your heart, brought back a memory, made you smile, or reminded you of someone you haven't thought about in years, I'd personally like to invite you to become a Blue Wave Insider.

I've reached a point in my life where the things that matter most aren't fame, money, or recognition. They're the people we've loved, the friendships we've made, the memories we've carried, and the stories we leave behind.

Blue Wave Revival has given me a way to share those things. Some of my songs come from my years in the Army and Vietnam. Others come from a lifetime of love, laughter, loss, growing older, and learning that even after the hardest nights, there's still a reason to welcome another morning.

Some stories are easy to share. Others have taken me more than fifty years to find the words.

When you become a Blue Wave Insider, you're not just signing up for another newsletter. You're becoming part of a circle of friends who believe that memories matter, that music can bring us together, and that nobody should feel forgotten.

I'll share new songs with you, tell you the personal stories behind them, let you know what I'm creating in my little Las Vegas studio, and keep you informed about The War Followed Me Home Initiative and our efforts to reach veterans who may be struggling.

But here's something equally important to me.

I want to hear your stories, too.

Maybe there's someone you served beside whose name you haven't spoken in years. Maybe there's a love you never forgot, a friendship that changed your life, a funny memory that still makes you laugh, or something you've carried in your heart that you've never quite known how to put into words.

I'd love to hear about it. Who knows? Your memory might inspire a future Blue Wave Revival song and help preserve a story that deserves to live on.

And please don't worry about money. Blue Wave Insider is completely free, just like our music. There are no membership fees and nothing you need to buy.

At this stage of my life, I'm simply grateful for the opportunity to share these stories and for the people who take a few minutes out of their day to listen.

So if something you've heard here has meant something to you, I hope you'll click the button below and become a Blue Wave Insider.

I can't promise that every song will make you smile. Some may bring a tear. But I can promise that the stories I share come from the heart.

And I'd be grateful to have you along for the journey.

I’d Like You to Listen

If you’ve made it this far, I’d like to personally invite you to spend a little time with the music.

Click on any song above and give it a listen. These aren’t just recordings added to fill a playlist. Every one of them begins with a reason, a memory, a feeling, or a story worth telling. Some come directly from my own life and experiences as a veteran. Others come from the people I’ve known, the memories I’ve carried, and the life I’ve lived through love, loss, family, friendship, growing older, and learning to appreciate another morning.

And when you see the INFO button on a song, I hope you’ll click it. I want you to know the story behind what you’re hearing — why the song was written, where it came from, and what it means to me. Sometimes knowing the story changes the way a song stays with you.

If you can, put on a good pair of headphones, turn the volume up just a little, and really listen to the words. You may hear something that reminds you of your own military service, someone you loved, your family, or a moment from your life you haven’t thought about in years.

And if one of the songs touches your heart, stay awhile. Listen to another. Read another story. Spend a little time with Blue Wave Revival.

I’m glad you found your way here, and I hope somewhere in this music, you find a story that feels a little like your own.
