Didn't know where that road would go.
But I knew the words I promised,

Carried its name across the sea.
I stood beside men and women
Who believed what freedom ought to be.

We weren't fighting for a ruler,
We weren't serving one man's throne.
We were standing for a Constitution,
For a nation governed by its own.

Written clear for all to see,
Is the right to speak without permission,
And a press that's supposed to be free.

When the voice you hate stays strong.
