So if you’re wondering why we suddenly vanished from Facebook — pages, groups, friends, all of it wiped out — it’s because Facebook decided to play censor. They claim they got “thousands of complaints” saying our music was hateful and calling for violence. Seriously? If you’ve ever heard a single Blue Wave Revival Band song, you know the only thing we call for is hope, justice, and kicking fascism out of power.

Then came the next lie: that people “paid for our music and never got it.” Yeah, right. Anyone who’s ever been to our website knows the truth — our music has always been free to listen, download, and share. We even sing about it in the damn songs.

So why the ban? Best guess: somebody in the big white house down in D.C. doesn’t like what we’re singing. And in Trump’s America, if the truth hurts their feelings, the easiest fix is to shut you up.

But here’s the thing — they can delete us from Facebook, but they can’t delete our voices. I won’t stop writing, we won’t stop singing, and our message will keep spreading across every platform they can’t control.

When writing and producing “Progressive Dreams,” I wanted to create something that not only carried a powerful message, but also showcased a part of who I am—my Latin roots. They’re a proud part of my heritage, and I wanted that influence to shine through in both the rhythm and the feel of the song.

This project also let us spotlight the full strength of the Blue Wave Revival Band. With twelve incredible vocalists, we worked take after take—layering harmonies and shaping every line—until we found the sound we were chasing. It took hours (and, yes, one spectacular attempt at teaching a few Latin dance steps that ended with a bandmate bumping his head on the drum set), but we landed on something authentic and electric.

At its core, “Progressive Dreams” is about the next generation of Democrats—young leaders ready to step forward, fight for freedom, and craft policy rooted in progressive values. It’s a tribute to their passion, courage, and momentum.

After weeks of writing about the unimaginable suffering in Gaza, I realized something — I’ve unintentionally pushed Ukraine’s story to the side. That was a mistake, and today, I want to make it right. Ukraine’s fight is not just their fight — it’s our fight too. It’s a battle for freedom, justice, and survival. Against one of the most powerful militaries in the world, the Ukrainian people have refused to bow, refused to break, and refused to surrender. Their courage deserves the world’s attention.

That’s why the Blue Wave Revival Band has been pouring our hearts into a new song — one written to honor Ukraine’s resilience, salute its soldiers, and remind the world what’s at stake.

“Stand Free, Stay Brave” is more than a song. It’s a tribute.

Over the past year, we’ve been flooded — and I mean flooded — with emails, texts, DMs, smoke signals, and the occasional carrier pigeon from fans and friends asking the same burning question:

"Rick, why doesn’t the Blue Wave Revival Band ever put out a straight-up rock song?"

Well… that’s a good question. The honest truth? I’ve never really been a hardcore rock guy. I grew up living on a steady diet of pop, R&B, and soul — smooth grooves and funky beats are my comfort zone. But lately, we’ve been getting more and more requests for something edgier, louder, and yes… something you can bang your head to.

Now, here’s where it gets funny. My other half, Jack — who, by the way, has been a hardcore rocker since before I met him over twenty years ago — finally staged what can only be described as a musical intervention. He looked me dead in the eye and said:

"Rick… either you produce a rock song… or you better get used to sleeping on the couch."

So, there you have it. I took the hint. 😎

Ladies and gentlemen, progressive music lovers everywhere, and all you rockers out there waiting for the Blue Wave Revival Band to finally crank up the amps — this one’s for you.

The Birth of a Song I Never Wanted to Write

The noise pouring out of the news lately has been enough to make me physically turn away from the TV — not because I don’t care, but because I care too much. For the past month, it’s been eating at me. Chewing at my conscience. So much so that, yes, I’m going to say it: right now, I am ashamed to call myself an American.

I can already hear some people rolling their eyes. “Rick, you’re being dramatic. Things can’t be that bad.” But you know what? They really are. At least for me. Bad enough that I’ve been lying awake in bed for nights on end, staring at the ceiling, my head crowded with words I couldn’t shake loose until I wrote them down.

And here’s where it gets embarrassingly real — I didn’t even have a notebook handy. So yeah… I grabbed the closest thing in reach: a roll of toilet paper. That’s where this song started. On those makeshift scraps, the frustration poured out of me. Call it too much information if you want, but that’s the raw truth of it.

The song is called “I Am a Shame to Be an American Right Now.” And it’s not just another protest anthem — it’s the kind of song that forces you to look in the mirror and ask some hard questions. The Blue Wave Revival Band and I are about to give it everything we’ve got. I’m putting out an SOS to my crew to get to my home studio as fast as possible so we can get this one recorded, mixed, and mastered.

This week, the band and I prerecorded a song LIVE entitled “CAN YOU SEE THEM” for iHeart Radio for the upcoming New Artist Awards show in late March 2026. Although we are not up for any awards, we were thrilled that iHeart Radio would even ask us to contribute to the award show and give us the opportunity to share our message with so many viewers and listeners. iHeard Radio has over 180 radio stations nationwide, and they are now playing our music and spreading our message to many of them.   

This is where I usually tell you what the song is about and what inspired me to write it. This time I will just let you listen to “CAN YOU SEE THEM”. I don't think I need to elaborate further. As with all my music, headphones are recommended to fully capture each word of the lyrics and the emotion I intended to convey.
