As I sat watching CNN cover the massive protest march in New York—standing in solidarity with what's unfolding in Los Angeles—I felt something deep stir inside me. I’ve lived in that city. I’ve marched those streets. I know firsthand that when injustice rises, New Yorkers rise louder.

It brought me back to my own memories of protest in New York—how the city never sleeps, never backs down, and never stays silent when democracy is under threat. I felt moved, emotional, and honestly, a little overwhelmed. So I did what I do when something grabs hold of my spirit: I wrote. I called the Blue Wave Revival Band to my home studio, and we poured everything into this track—fast, raw, and full of fire.

The result is “They Rise Up (New York Don’t Bow)”—a musical tribute to the defiance, courage, and soul of a city that never stops fighting.

Because when New Yorkers see a dictator creeping toward their democracy, they don’t retreat. They hit the streets with bullhorns, hand-painted signs, and voices that echo across boroughs. They don’t wait for permission. They don’t hope someone else steps up. They do it themselves.

While others stall or shrug, New York moves. They’ve seen through Trump’s act—the conman-in-chief, the wannabe strongman who mistakes cruelty for leadership—and they’re not buying it.

Will You Keep Your Oath? - Today, I have a question—directed to every Marine, every soldier, every sailor, airman, National Guard member, and reservist being threatened to deploy against civilians in Los Angeles at the order of Donald Trump and his Secretary of Defense.

I’m not asking this out of anger—I’m asking out of duty, as a 100% disabled Army veteran who has served, sacrificed, and still carries that weight. I wrote this song, “Will You Keep Your Oath?” not as a political anthem, but as a solemn and urgent call to conscience.

This moment isn’t hypothetical anymore. It’s real, it’s coming, and it demands clarity—not later, but now.

Will you keep your oath to the Constitution?
Will you stand with the people, or kneel to a man?
Will you protect democracy, or obey tyranny?

The song is stripped down. No frills. Just raw voices, real instruments, and truth. It’s performed by every member of our band because we all believe this question matters not just to us—but to the future of this country.

In 1776, citizen soldiers rose up against authoritarianism. In 2025, I believe we are being asked—again—to choose what kind of America we stand for.

Still Marching, Still Singing — Until the Madness Ends

Every day, it’s something new. Another lie, another outrage, another MAGA meltdown. With all the shit swirling around Trump and his Republican enablers, it’s like they’re handing us the next verse on a silver platter. As a progressive music band, we never run out of reasons to pick up a guitar, fire up the mic, and belt out the truth. Honestly, that’s the bittersweet part: the inspiration is endless. But the exhaustion? Yeah, that’s real too.

Some days I think, “Damn, will we ever get a break?” Then I remember—our songs are our fight. And until the last Trump tantrum fades from the headlines, until the last fascist flag is folded and packed away with the garbage of history, we at the Blue Wave Revival Band will be here—marching, composing, singing, and standing with you.

Would I trade all this lyrical ammo for a president who isn’t a raging narcissist with a criminal rap sheet longer than one of our setlists? Hell yes. I’d love to go back to writing songs about hope, unity, and a nation moving forward. I know those days will come. But until then, we’ll keep turning outrage into art. Because protest music matters. Because democracy only works if we fight for it.

So turn up the volume. Share the songs. And don’t give up. We’re in this together—one chorus, one vote, one rising tide at a time.

🎙️ Song Introduction – “Waving for Freedom”

I wrote “Waving for Freedom” in honor of Flag Day, June 14th—a day to reflect not just on what the flag symbolizes, but on what it should stand for: justice, equality, and a promise to all. This song is a tribute to every American who’s carried that promise forward, from Selma to Normandy, from Valley Forge to today’s peaceful marches for change.

I’ll be honest—this one took me three times longer to write than most songs. I wanted every note and every word to mean something real to anyone who listens. By the time I finally put this song to bed and into the can for release, it had taken the breath out of me. I poured everything I had into it, and I hope you can feel that in the music—the emotion, the weight, the love, the fight.
